NEW footage released of Star Wars: The Force Awakens

(WTVM) – With only one month away from the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in American theaters, new footage is being unveiled in this just-released trailer of Episode VII in the Star Wars franchise.

The 30-second long TV spot has video we’ve never seen before with Han Solo (played by Harrison Ford), Rey (Daisy Ridley), and mostly focusing on Finn (John Boyega). In it, you see him fighting First Order Stormtroopers with a lightsaber, and that attack being blocked by a unique weapon we’re seeing for the first time.

We also get a quick look at Finn piloting a ship, which appears could be the legendary Millennium Falcon. Other major characters are missing from this Star Wars preview, including Luke Skywalker.

Director J.J. Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy have been fairly mum about the highly anticipated movie. There are still plenty of questions about the film, which you can get answered on the big screen starting on December 18.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will introduce three new heroes into the Star Wars universe – including Finn and Rey, plus Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron. Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Ford (Han Solo) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) are also reprising their famous roles from the original trilogy.
