Thanksgiving meal give-aways and volunteer opportunities in the Valley

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Organizations in the Valley are gearing up for Thanksgiving by giving away meals for those in need.

Volunteers are also needed to cook, package and deliver food to residents this holiday season.

The following places are looking for volunteers to donate and deliver food to those who are in need. 

  • The Salvation Army
  • Open Door Community House
  • Valley Rescue Mission
  • The Liberty Theater

The following places are giving away free meals 

  • Valley Rescue Mission, located at 2903 2nd Ave., will give free meals after chapel service at 11 a.m.
  • Salvation Army, located at 1718 2nd Ave., will offer meals from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
  • Columbus Safehouse, located at 2101 Hamilton Rd., will offer free meals at 11:30 a.m.
  • The Liberty Theater, located at 813 8th Ave., will offer free meals at noon. 

In order to receive a free meal please bring a picture ID, birth certificate for each child, proof of/lack of income, current utility bill and current rent receipt.
