COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Hundreds were served with a traditional Thanksgiving meal today at Valley Rescue mission in Columbus.
The annual meals provided served about 500 people in need of a meal today.
The turkeys were prepared by Masterbuilt earlier this week so they were ready to serve today.
One volunteer with Valley Rescue Mission says it's worth volunteering just to see the smiles on people's faces when they receive their plate of food.
"More people should come out for this occasion. It's really awesome," Catherine Goodwin said, with Valley Rescue Mission.
Volunteers say prepping for the event took about a week.
