GA, AL sheriffs form joint burglary task force, arrests made in both states

RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) – The Russell County Sheriff's Office held a press conference on Tuesday and announced that sheriffs in both Georgia and Alabama has teamed up to investigate numerous burglaries in the Chattahoochee Valley.

Sheriffs from Lee, Russell, Muscogee and Harris counties say they've investigated several people in connection with a growing number of crimes in their jurisdictions.

"Over the last several months approximately 40 arrests have been made, approximately $107,000 worth of property has been recovered, and approximately $2,500 in drug amount has been recovered off the street," Sheriff Heath Taylor said.

They also recovered 15 televisions and 25 guns. Sheriff Taylor says the widespread break-ins in over the last eight weeks have certainly slowed down. Officials have released the names and charges of the suspect involved in the string of burglaries.
