VIDEO: Canadian brothers rescue bald eagle from trap

ONTARIO, CANADA (WTVM) -

Two Canadian brothers are internet heroes after they documented an impromptu rescue of a bald eagle while out hunting.

On Nov. 24, brothers Michael and Neil Fletcher of Sudbury, Ontario were hunting grouse when they happened upon a bald eagle caught in a trap.

They propped up Michael’s phone nearby to record the rescue.

Michael told CNN he used a branch to jam into the trap and was able to open it just enough to release the eagle’s talon.

Once the eagle was freed, Neil had an idea.

“He’s like, ‘Oh grab your phone. We should take a selfie,’” Michael told Buzzfeed Canada

After posing with the eagle for what is probably the selfie of the year, the brothers released the bird into the wilderness.
