COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – In observance of the upcoming holidays there will be a new schedule for trash pick-up.

Due to the schedule changes, the city will have make-up days for each holiday including Christmas, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King’s Birthday and Memorial Day.

On Monday, Dec. 21 and Tuesday, Dec. 22 the household garbage and recycling will be collected, as well as on Monday, Dec. 28 and Tuesday, Dec, 29.

In observance of Martin Luther King’s birthday, trash pick-up will be scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, and for Memorial Day the make-up day will be on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

Yard waste and bulk waste collection will resume the week of Jan. 4, 2016. In lieu of trash pick-up, landfills will be open on Dec, 23, Thursday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 31

Because of the heavy holiday loads for Christmas and New Year's Day, if the city is unable to collect all of the household garbage or recycling on the scheduled Monday or Tuesday, workers will complete pick up on that Wednesday.

There will be no yard waste or bulk waste collect on during those two weeks.
