SEGMENT: 'WIC on Wheels' provides food for families in need

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – It is the holiday season and one local organization is doing its part to give back to moms and expecting moms in need.

WIC on Wheels is a program created by WIC, which is a supplemental nutrition program for women and children up to age 5.

The event is designed to target families who are not able to get to the health department for transportation reasons.

Latrice Love stopped by News Leader 9 Morning to say In order to qualify for this, go to the health department or the Piggly Wiggly on Woodruff Farm Rd. Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. You are asked to bring I.D., proof of residency, and proof of income.

Some items people will get are fruits, cereals, peanut butter, and juice.

This program is funded by the state of Georgia and the federal government.
