COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A heartwarming show that just opened in Columbus could help get you in the holiday spirit, but it's not your normal Christmas story.
Family Theatre is putting on "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." It's about a group of kids from a rough and poor family, the Herdmans, who invade the church Christmas pageant, taking on all the major roles of Joseph, Mary, wise men, and angels.
In the production, the young actors and audience learn the true meaning of Christmas. On opening night recently, we talked to the show's director.
"The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, the message of it is that Jesus came at Christmas and he came for everybody. He came for the church kids, he came for the church ladies and he came for the Herdmans," director Leslie Cardwell said.
There will be a total of at least eight of these shows over the next three weekends at Family Theatre, which is in the theater annex of Rose Hill Baptist Church at 2100 Hamilton Road in Columbus.
The next showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. on December 10-12 and December 17-19. The December 11 and 12 shows are already sold out.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for military and seniors, and $8 for students. Seating is limited, so reservations are highly recommended. Call 706-366-7196 to reserve your spot or for more information.
