COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – With the holidays around the corner, you should not let diabetes slow you down from enjoying the season.
Dr. Paula Walker-King stopped by News Leader 9 Morning to talk about diabetes.
There are three types of diabetes: type 1, type 2, and gestational (which can be developed during pregnancy).
Type 1 (also known as juvenile) is when your body does not produce insulin and injections are needed. Nothing can be done for type 1, but you must take your insulin and monitor blood sugar levels.
Type 2 is when the body produces enough insulin, but is resistant to it. This type of diabetes can be treated and even be reversed with proper dieting.
