(WXTX) - While many people may think men get lost more and don't want to ask for directions, the results of some new research may be surprising to some.
Men have a better sense of direction than women - that's according to a study, finding that a guy's superior sense of direction may have to do with the sex hormone testosterone.
Researchers from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology figured this out by placing men and women in separate groups and asking them to navigate through a three-dimensional virtual maze using a joystick.
Using MRI technology to monitor brain activity, the results showed that men arrived at checkpoints faster and solved more tasks.
Then, female subjects in the study who got a drop of testosterone were also more efficient in this study than women who got a placebo.
Experts hope the results can be used to better understand the development of Alzheimer's disease.
