COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A second suspect has been arrested in the murder of Demetrius Williams

Roderick Lebeson Phillips has been charged with the murder of Demetrius Williams.

On Dec. 4, at 11:17 p.m. Columbus Police Department patrol units were dispatched to the intersection of Mellon Street and Bernard Drive in reference to a shooting.

Upon their arrival they discovered Williams suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Williams was transported to the Midtown Medical Center ER where he was pronounced dead.

The Columbus Police Department Robbery/Assault-Homicide unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Roger Lee Thomas was arrested for Williams' murder after he turned himself in to police on Dec. 6.

As the investigation continued, information was discovered that Phillips was also involved in Williams's murder. Phillips was arrested on Dec. 5, on unrelated charges and was served on Friday with the murder warrant at the Muscogee County Jail.

We are asking anyone with any information about this case to contact Corporal Darrell Middlebrooks at (706)-225-4329 or the Robbery/Assault-Homicide office at (706)-653-3400.
