COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - One film by a local resident is making a big splash across the state of Georgia as it garners consideration for a major filmmaking award.
Local filmmaker Tyrone Manns wrote and directed a film called "The Wish" in hopes to inspire and educate minorities to become registered organ donors.
The film was commissioned by an organization called Donate Life America.
Manns wrote his film in Columbus a year ago and in that short time, they were nominated for the best independent feature film produced in the state of Georgia.
"There's a huge lack of organ donors in the minority community, and we're just trying to debunk some of the myth and tell the truth in the film and entertaining all at the same time," Manns said.
The film has not been released yet, but there are plans to show the film on the Uplift TV channel.
