Columbus first responders honored at ceremony

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - It was a special day for some first responders in the Fountain City on Tuesday, Dec. 15.

Columbus Fire and Emergency Medical Services recognized all personnel who've been promoted or appointed to new positions.

Twenty-four people were recognized at the ceremony, which was held at the Firefighters Association Building on Lynch Road.

Columbus Fire Chief Jeff Meyer said the unity at an event like this builds among first responders and says this is the first year they have held this type of ceremony.

Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson was also among the community leaders at the event.
