FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - Task Force 1-28 is now in place at Fort Benning.
The 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry division hosted a ceremony on Wednesday marking the reorganization into the new task force.
The ceremony marked the official activation of Task Force 1-28 on Fort Benning as the rest of the 3rd BCT, 3rd ID continues to consolidate and reorganize into the 1,050 Soldier Task Force.
Colonel Michael J. Simmering saying this a time of great transition for soldiers.
"A lot of people when units come up for deactivation wonder what their future holds, what their next mission is," Col. Simmering said. "That is why our focus has been throughout this whole process has been on making sure we do the best we can to take of the soldiers and their families."
The 3rd BCT has put forth every effort to assist the nearly 3,000 soldiers and their families affected by the reorganization as they prepare to depart Fort Benning for other opportunities throughout the Army.
