GA Power partners with Columbus nonprofit to give away food

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Feeding the Valley partnered with Georgia Power Thursday morning to give out boxes of food along with energy kits for those in need this holiday season.

The energy kits contain such thing as LED light bulbs and door jams to help lower utility bills. The food boxes contain canned meats and vegetables.

This service has been going in the area for decades. Frank Sheppard with Feeding the Valley says these items help provide a better Christmas for needy families.

"We are trying to give everyone the opportunity to provide meals during the holiday season. We try to put foods in there to create a family meals rather than individual meals, Sheppard said.

People can come to the Enrichment Services Center on 12th Ave to sign up for the next giveaway.
