LPD searching for attempted armed robbery suspects

LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) - The LaGrange Police Department is searching for two suspects in connection to an attempted armed robbery.

On Dec. 17 at approximately 11:22 a.m., officers from the LaGrange Police Department responded to building D on 150 Turner Street in reference to an attempted armed robbery.

Officers said the victim, Marcus Sullivan, reported three black males approached him the breezeway of the building.

Sullivan said one of them pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed it at him, threatening to shoot him if he did not "give it up."

The victim said he ran from the location in fear for his life and called police.

One of the suspects, later identified as 20-year-old Joe Weldon, fled the scene on foot as police arrived and was located in the area. Weldon was taken into custody and transported to the Troup County Jail.

The identities of the other two suspects are unknown at this time. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the LaGrange Police Department or Troup County Crime Stoppers at (706) 812-1000.
