Alabama doctor pleads guilty to illegally selling pills

MONTGOMERY, AL. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say an Alabama doctor has pleaded guilty to illegally distributing prescription drugs and money laundering.

Authorities say 48-year-old Francisco Huidor-Figureoa of Montgomery pleaded guilty on Tuesday.

Officials say Huidor-Figureoa sold oxycodone to pill dealers from the EMED Medical Management Corp. in Opelika between 2012 and 2013.

Prosecutors say Huidor-Figureoa also helped the pill mill's owners in south Florida launder money that was generated from the drug sales.

Officials say Huidor-Figureoa faces up to 20 years in prison on each count.
