COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus police are investigating a death after a man died at the hospital on Saturday.
Lt. Greg Touchberry says Tommy Lee Gary,52, was found alive in a creek at 4150 Cusseta Road, behind Baker Plaza Apartments Saturday morning.
A child noticed Gary in the creek and called the police. When police officers arrived they saw an abrasion on his head with a small amount of blood on him, and his body temperature was at 74 degrees.
Gary was rushed to the emergency room where doctors worked on him, but he was pronounced dead by the ER doctor around 12:20 p.m. on Saturday.
He was last seen at home around 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. Friday night with his family. Touchberry says they are waiting on an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
It is unknown as to how Gary ended up at the creek.
