OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) – On Wednesday, Dec. 23 a 38-year-old man suffered and died from a gunshot wound in the 200 block of Chester Avenue, and now the case will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury.
According to Opelika police, the shooting was between two associates who began arguing over narcotics. Information developed led investigators to believe that one of the associates was armed with a pistol during the argument.
Officials also say the other involved individual was in his own residence and felt threatened as the fight escalated and he then shot Johnson, however there weren't any witnesses to the shooting.
The facts and circumstances at this time do not support an arrest of the shooter. After consultation with the Lee County District Attorney it was decided to present the case to the Lee County Grand Jury for their consideration.
