Homeless man found dead in Columbus on Wednesday

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Charles Newton said a man was found dead in Columbus on Wednesday.

Newton said a 60-year-old man, identified as Major Menefield, was found dead in the area of JR Allen Parkway and Second Avenue on Wednesday.

A CPD police incident report says the cause of death is listed as "natural." 

The report says that around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Menefield was found in his tent unresponsive. A person in a nearby tent told police that Menefield had left the hospital on Jan. 4.
