COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - It took 25 rounds and more than 150 words before a spelling bee champion was crowned at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School in Columbus on Thursday.
When it was all over, fourth grader Jordyn Johnson was the winner. She beat 14 spelling bee finalists to win the first place trophy. News Leader 9's Barbara Gauthier was the announcer for the Spelling Bee.
The runner up was another fourth grader, Amari Cambridge. "Magma" was the winning word.
