COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The 41st annual NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet was held Friday evening in Columbus.
Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson and Colonel Patrick Donahue of the Fort Benning Maneuver Center of Excellence were among the dignitaries on the program for this year's event as well as local, state and national representatives of the NAACP.
The keynote speaker was Reverend Nelson B. Rivers the Third, the Vice President of Religious Affairs and External Relations for the National Action Network.
The theme of this year's event was "Pursuing Liberty in the Face of Injustice."
Mayor Tomlinson presented Rivers the key to the city during the event at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center.
