PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - The teen accused of running down and killing a Phenix City man in April 2015 will be tried as an adult.
According to the family of Nathan Wombles, the Russell County district attorney's office said that the youthful offender application status of the suspect, 17-year-old Josh Gorman, was denied, and he will be tried as an adult in court.
Gorman's first arraignment will be on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 9 a.m. The family said they "are so happy about this decision."
Gorman is accused of killing 31-year-old Nathan Wombles in a hit-and-run on Bonanza Drive on April 26, 2015. Gorman is facing two counts of murder, but his attorneys had previously asked that he be tried as a youthful offender.
If convicted, the teen could face between 10 years to life in prison.
