COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A local learning trail dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was unveiled Monday morning in honor of MLK Day.
The 2.2 mile long Martin Luther King Jr. Outdoor Learning Center Trail starts at the intersection of Macon and Rigdon Road and ends at Bay Ave. and 10 Street.
Along the trail will be markers where people can learn about important people and places in the history of Columbus.
This project has been more than three years in the making and is scheduled to be completed by this spring at a cost of $55,000.
"We are now creating an educational venture that will help our kids understand whose shoulders they are standing on and also instill pride into them," said Ronzell Buckner, director of Turn Around Columbus.
All of the funds for this project came from private donations.
