SEGMENT: Health with Dr. Paula: Cervical Health Awareness

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – January is Cervical Health Awareness Month. Cervical cancer is highly preventable with regular screening tests and appropriate follow-up care if found early enough.

For those who may not be familiar with cervical cancer (also known as the silent disease) — it affects the lower end of the uterus and does not always have symptoms.

Here are some things you can do to prevent cervical cancer include:

-HPV Vaccination

-get a regular pap smear test

-not smoking

-using protection when having sex
