MERIWETHER COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - A Greenville, GA man has been arrested after he was discovered smoking marijuana in an elementary school bathroom.
On Tuesday, Jan. 19 around 10 a.m., the Meriwether County School Resource Officers, Narcotics Division and Patrol Deputies responded to Unity Elementary School in regard to a reported disruptive subject at the school.
According to information received from school personnel, 49-year-old Eric Alan Robinson was at the school for a parent student related issue.
At some point Robinson went into the boy's bathroom at the school. During this time, a student went to the restroom and came back out telling a faculty member that the subject was smoking weed.
The Unity School Administration then followed their school safety plan protocol and placed the school on lockdown. School Staff made contact with Robinson, who became irate and disruptive with school personnel.
Officers say they could smell the strong odor of burnt marijuana on Robinson's person and in the bathroom area where he had been.
Robinson continued his confrontational demeanor and was placed under arrest. He was found to be in possession of marijuana less than one ounce and of a knife with a blade in excess of two inches in a coat pocket.
Robinson was transported to the Meriwether County Jail and was charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, disrupting public schools, disorderly conduct, and carrying a weapon on school property, which is a felony.
Robinson's bond was set at $10,000 with a no contact order issued by the Magistrate Judge. This case will be submitted to the Meriwether County District Attorney's Office for prosecution by the School Resource Division.
