Arrest made in deadly home invasion

Two suspects are now charged with capital murder in connection to a deadly home invasion in Lee County, Alabama.

According to police, 20 year old Davonte Mike of Opelika and 20-year old Robert Wiggins of Columbus kicked in the front door of 85-year old Curtis Rudd.

They say Rudd and his wife of 60 years were woken up by a strange noise.

"They were awakened,  heard a noise at the door, which resulted in the door being forced open, two males wearing ski masks armed with a hand gun entered the house and immediately fired multiple rounds," says Lee County Sheriff, Jay Jones.
Investigators say Rudd was fatally injured.
He returned fire, protecting his wife and wounding suspect Robert Wiggins who showed up at the East Alabama Medical Center with a gunshot wound.
It was Wiggins injury that led investigators to an Opelika home associated with Devonte Mike, where they recovered the suspected murder weapon.
