CUSSETA AL (WTVM) – Another suspect was arrested Monday morning in connection to the Cusseta, AL home invasion.

Charges were filed against 20-year-old Khaleef Marshall of Opelika for capital murder. Marshall and Davonte Mike are being held in the Lee County Detention Center without bond.

Robert Wiggins, 20, of Columbus, GA, who was also an additional suspect, is still a patient at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika under watch by Lee county deputies and will be transported to the Lee County Detention Center upon release.

The charges against Marshall, Mike and Wiggins stem from their involvement in the Jan. 19, 2016 home invasion attempted robbery and murder of 85-year-old Curtis Bennie Rudd.

This crime is being investigated in conjunction with another home invasion attempted robbery and burglary of an elderly female that took place a little over four hours earlier that same night on Lee Road 390 in Opelika, AL.

The investigation has revealed evidence linking Mike and Wiggins to this crime. These cases are still under active investigation and may result in additional arrests.

If you have any information about these cases or any other cases please contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at (334) 749-5651 or Lee County Crime Stoppers at (888)522-7847.
