AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - On Tuesday, a group of volunteers gathered at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum at Auburn University for a career fair for middle school students.
Eleven different industries were in attendance to give the students an idea of what it would be like to work in their particular fields.
The fields ranged from Agriculture to Healthcare and Manufacturing to Public Safety.
"Our goal is to better prepare these eighth graders to make career decisions and to make decisions about their four years in high school," said Janet Ormond, Chair of the expo committee. "Many of them make curriculum decisions for 9-12th grade while in 8th and we want them to be able to make wise choices."
Groups such as Dixie Electric and the Lee County Sheriff's Department had interactive demonstrations to help give the students hands-on experience.
