COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus man has been arrested after a traffic stop led to police discovering a controlled substance in his vehicle.
On Friday, Jan. 29 at approximately 11 a.m., a Columbus police officer noticed a vehicle driven by Travis L. Hewell, 42, approaching the intersection of Rigdon Road and Hood Street.
The vehicle appeared to have tinted windows that did not comply with Georgia's laws.
When the officer ran the tag number, the results showed the vehicle had suspended registration and no insurance.
The officer then initiated a traffic stop and discovered Hewell was in possession of a controlled substance.
Hewell was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent. He was also found to be in possession of a drug-related object.
