AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - On Saturday morning, a group of community members in Auburn braved frigid water for a great cause.
More than 60 people jumped into the Samford Pool for the Auburn Polar Plunge.
All the money raised will go to support the Lee County Special Olympics athletes as they head to area, state, and national games.
"It stays local, it stays with athletes in our community," said Ryan Mott with Auburn Parks and Recreation. "With kids who need it and families who need it. So they don't have to spend as much to go to different events. And we can also offer more expansive programs for them. So it very important. You can raise money for an important cause and have a good time doing it."
This is the fourth year this event has been held.
