GA gov. announces Anthem, Inc. to create 450 new jobs in Muscogee Co.

ATLANTA (WTVM) - Georgia Governor Nathan Deal announced on Tuesday that a health provider will be creating more than 400 jobs in Muscogee County.

Anthem, Inc., a leading health benefit solutions, will be expanding their customer care center in Columbus, creating 450 new jobs.

The expansion will display a capital investment of more than $3 million in Muscgoee County. The Anthem office in Columbus currently employs 1,285 people.

The expansion is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017.

The expansion will also bring the total number of Anthem, Inc. employees to 4,500 in the state of Georgia.

“Anthem’s decision to expand in Columbus speaks to the strength and vitality of Georgia’s business-friendly environment,” said Deal. “This expansion further bolsters Georgia’s reputation as the nation’s top destination for health IT companies. We appreciate Anthem’s long-standing dedication to healthcare delivery and commitment to job creation, and we look forward to Anthem’s continued success in our state.”
