Columbus groups talk teen dating violence

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - On Thursday, two local groups partnered to help tackle concerns about teen dating violence.

Amerigroup and Hope Harbor hosted an event at the Columbus Public Library for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, talking to attendees about how that violence happens, the red flags to look for, and prevention.

This is the third year they’ve collaborated and they hope to make this an annual event.

"We want to educate the community on what teen dating violence is. We want to make sure they know what it is, the warning signs way to prevent it, and to know that there are ways to help,” Amerigroup community relations representative Lafawnda Hugley said.

The group also showed the teens at this event different PowerPoint presentations and did group activities, along with an interactive discussion.
