Police investigate deadly stabbing in Americus

Americus police are investigating the city's second domestic related deadly stabbing this year.

32-year old Courtney Jackson was killed in his home on Ridge Street Sunday night.

Jackson's girlfriend, 42-year old Lashonda Terry is in jail charged with murder.

Police say she stabbed Jackson twice in the chest after an argument.

Jackson was rushed from the home at 821 Ridge Street to Phoebe Sumter Hospital but died on the way.

Police say there have not been any prior issues involving this couple. It does concern police since it is the second domestic violence death in two months.

" Any violence or death of any citizen within our community is troubling to us especially when the parties are known to each other--for anything that we could've done to help prevent this, says Americus Interim Police Chief, Herman Lamar."

Neighbors say the couple moved into the home last Thursday.
The district attorney's office is working closely with Americus police and will work to figure out what led to the stabbing. Meanwhile, Terry is being held at the Sumter County jail on felony murder charges.
