(WTVM) – Both Georgia and Alabama have some work to do in the areas of poverty, health, and education, according to findings from a new "State of the States" report from the Center for American Progress.

Both states rank near the bottom 15 in many of the categories in its 2015 data report.

Alabama, for example, while ranking seventh in affordable housing among states, ranks near the bottom in several categories including poverty and child poverty.

Georgia also ranks near the bottom in several categories, including last in unemployment insurance coverage and next to last in health insurance coverage – in this report from the Center for American Progress.

The state of Georgia did however rank second overall in children living apart from their parents.
