LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - On Feb. 24, 2016 Blake Ashton Carter 17, of Phenix City, was arrested and charged as an adult by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office after being caught in the act of committing an armed robbery.

Carter has been charged with robbery in the first-degree, unlawful imprisonment in the first-degree, criminal mischief in the third-degree and receiving stolen property in the second-degree.

On Fe. 24, 2016, around 10:57 pm, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a silent panic alarm from the Marathon Gas Station located at 880 Lee Road 248 Smith Station, Lee County, Alabama.

Deputies responded to the scene within minutes and immediately saw an armed individual wearing a black mask inside of the business.  Once the offender saw that the deputies were at the business he ran into the back of the store in an attempt to elude capture.

The deputies setup a perimeter around the store and engaged in negotiations with the offender which eventually led to him surrendering to authorities.  A gun and mask were recovered from inside the store.   The store clerk was not injured in this incident.

A records check of the recovered weapon revealed that it had been reported stolen to the Columbus Police Department in April 2015.

Carter is being held in the Lee County Detention Facility on an $110,500 bond.
