OPD issues murder warrant in weekend shooting of Auburn man

OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - The Opelika Police Department has obtained a murder warrant on Malik Dajuan Jacobs, alias, Malik Sistrunk.

Police say Jacobs is involved in the shooting death of Jacob Austin Smith, 22, of Auburn, on Feb. 27, in the 500 block of Raintree Street.

Jacobs, who quite frequently uses the last name of Sistrunk, has been identified as the person who was arguing with Smith and who subsequently shot him.

Jacobs, 19, stands at 5’09” and weighs about 135 pounds. He has been seen with gold teeth before.

He was last seen after the shooting at 2 a.m. in Barbour County, AL, and is suspected to be on the run. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.
