Golden State Foods breaks ground on new plant facility in Opelika

OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) – Golden State Foods Corp. Chairman and CEO along with company elected officials broke ground Wednesday morning on a new 165,000 square-foot, state of the art meat processing facility in the Northeast Opelika Industrial Park.

The capital investment in the facility is estimated to be $63 million and GSF will create 173 new jobs in Opelika.

Mayor Fuller stated, “Today is another great day in the City of Opelika as we welcome our new partner, Golden State Foods. We know they will provide great opportunities for our citizens and be a true community partner.”

Golden State Foods is headquartered in Irvine, CA. It is one of the largest diversified suppliers to the Quick Service Restaurant and retail industries.

It currently services more than 125,000 restaurants from its 45 locations on five continents. GSF is expected to be completed in the fall of 2016.
