Justin Ross Harris gets maximum sentence in hot car death of son

ATLANTA (WTVM) - The Georgia father who was found guilty of leaving his 22-month-old son in the car and let him die was sentenced Monday. 

Justin Ross Harris was sentenced to life without parole for the charge of malice murder for the death of his son, Cooper. Judge Mary Staley sentenced Harris to live without parole plus 42 years. Those terms will run consecutively. 

Harris was found guilty of malice murder after leaving his son in his SUV in the parking lot of his job in June 2014. 

Ross was found guilty of eight counts including malice murder, felony murder, cruelty to children, criminal attempt to commit a felony and dissemination of harmful material to minors.

The trial was held in Glynn County, GA and lasted for three months.
