IHOP restaurants are once again offering guests a free short stack of their famous buttermilk pancakes on National Pancake Day on Tuesday, March 8.

This family-friendly tradition aims to raise needed funds and awareness for The Children’s Hospital at Midtown Medical Center, Columbus’ local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

For every short stack of buttermilk pancakes served on National Pancake Day between 7 a.m. and 10p.m., IHOP guests are invited to make a voluntary donation to The Children’s Hospital at Midtown Medical Center.

Since 2006, IHOP's National Pancake Day has raised approximately $15 million to provide lifesaving treatment, programs and medical equipment for child patients, including the 30,000 children treated annually at Midtown Medical Center.

In the weeks leading up to National Pancake Day, participating IHOP restaurants also sell miracle balloons for $1 and $5 to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

The balloons will be available through National Pancake Day, and all local proceeds will go to Columbus’ Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Guests who purchase a $5 Miracle Balloon will receive a $5 discount coupon, which can be used during their next dining visit.

“IHOP teams in the Columbus market have been incredibly supportive of our Children’s Hospital,” said Mary Johnson, Annual Gifts Officer and Children’s Miracle Network Program Director at Columbus Regional Health Foundation. “Year after year, they look for new and more meaningful ways to encourage giving through their restaurant campaigns. We are grateful for their passion and dedication to helping our local sick and injured children, and we look forward to celebrating their ‘Decade of Giving’ by inviting guests to continue supporting Children’s Miracle Network in their community.”

A pancake flipping contest was held Tuesday morning at the IHOP Airport Thruway location. Local celebrity guests include Boomer and the Columbus Cottonmouths, Outstanding Teen and regional titleholders with the Miss America Organization and Midtown Medical Center’s Chief of Pediatrics, Dr. Rebecca Reamy.
