COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Columbus Lions took the field tonight at the Columbus Civic Center - only in a different way.
The team hosted its Women's 101 Clinic on Monday night.

They taught them the basics of arena football and introduced them to some of head coach Jason Gibson's favorite plays.

But it wasn't all business - the ladies got to do some tackling drills, and even showed off their moves with a touchdown dance contest.

It's a good way to loosen up before training camp starts for the team on Wednesday.

"It's actually turned out better than I expected. This is the south and women love football," Lions head coach Jason Gibson said. "Just getting them out here running around watching them catch and throw and do the drills and teaching them what we do every day and make it more fun for when they're at our games."

Columbus Lions fan Stephanie Cowling said being a part of what makes the game work makes it more enjoyable.

"To see what it takes to do these drills and to do the different plays on there, its eye opening, and it's a really good thing so all the ladies are having a good time right now," Cowling said.
