RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -

First responders are strengthening their ability to adequately serve all parts of Russell County.

The Russell County Sheriff's Office cut the ribbon on their brand new public safety located on Old Seale Highway on Wednesday, March 9.

The building will house ambulance services and will act as a sheriff's office substation.

The land was donated by the Russell County Board of Education.

Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor says this new facility will allow emergency and law enforcement services to better serve the area.

“The ability to stay out in the county, the ability to service the public from here rather than go all the way into the city is a huge benefit for us,” Sheriff Taylor said.

The building is located across the street from Russell County Middle School.
