UPDATE: Woman detained following suicide threat, I-85 SB reopening

MACON COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - A woman who's suicide threat at a Macon County, AL rest stop forced a diversion of traffic for several hours has been detained by police. 

Interstate I-85 is reopening, according to Corporal Jess Thornton with the ALEA. There were no injuries to the woman or any law enforcement officers, and she was taken to a nearby hospital. Her charges are pending at this time. 

Alabama Law Enforcement reported that I-85 south bound traffic is being diverted off exit 51 in Auburn.

State troopers confirmed that the unidentified woman was threatening suicide around the rest area in Macon County. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency tactical team and the State Bureau of Investigation's negotiator were brought on scene. 

Law enforcement officials are urging all commuters to avoid the area and and cleared the area of other people. Troopers on scene said the woman has discharged the weapon, but did not fire at law enforcement or herself. There are no hostages.
