The Columbus State Cougars split a double-header Saturday afternoon against UNC-Pembroke.

In game one, the Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a two-run hit by Kailey Boone. CSU would add a run later in the game to take a 3-0 lead heading into the final inning.

The seventh inning would be a great inning for the Braves, however. It started with a solo shot to center by Abbey Walters to make it 3-1 CSU.

The Cougars would have trouble getting outs, and the Braves loaded up the bases in the seventh. After a run was walked in to make it 3-2, Jamie Johnson knocked in two runs to make it 4-3 UNC-Pembroke.

They held off the Cougars in the bottom of the frame to take game one.
In game two, Columbus State took a quick 2-0 lead after the first inning. Boone came up big in the fifth inning, driving in another run. A two-run home run by Rachael Rhodes gave the Cougars a 5-1 lead and that’s how it would stay.
