Flint Riverkeeper watching state lawmakers closely

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Members of the Flint Riverkeeper are watching state lawmakers.

The group is fighting a senate resolution that would grant easements for the controversial sabal trail gas pipeline along several waterways, including the Flint River.

Flint Riverkeeper Gordon Rogers says they're against this because of dangers the pipeline could burst.

“It's a very important source of water for our ecosystem and when you go drilling you don't know how you are going to reroute that water. So even without a pipeline break, you could have a rerouting of water that could interrupt people's supplies,” says Gordon Rogers, Flint Riverkeeper.

He says they also don't believe the government should be able to take people's property through eminent domain.
