It was all about raising money for a good cause at the National Infantry Museum on Tuesday.

The Columbus Council Garden Club held a fashion show and silent auction to benefit Damascus Way. Door prizes were also handed out at the event.

Proceeds will go towards garden therapy for women and children at the facility. Land near the shelter will be developed as a garden for residents to use.

Deborah Hunsinger, the director of Damascus Way, says garden therapy is great for those undergoing a tough time in life and helping them find peace.

“Growing things is a healing process for all of us,” Hunsinger said. “Having our hands busy and having our friends playing with us as we grow things, it’s just a healing process for all of us.”

Damascus Way is a 56-bed facility provides both long-term and short-term programs for women and children.

The program has several different options that help women and men. The emergency shelter is a temporary shelter providing relief from physical trauma.

They also have a children's ministry which provides a safe and loving environment.
