COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The local chapter of the NAACP held a press conference Tuesday to talk about bullying in local schools.

The meeting was to show solidarity for the mother of an eight year old second grader who was the victim of ongoing bullying.

The bullying resulted in permanent loss of vision in his eye in October of 2015. During the press conference, the NAACP presented Bullying Policy Recommendations and a call to action targeted to Muscogee County School District.

"I didn't want to take him out of the school and make him feel like he was facing consequences for what the bully had did to him,” said Courtney Early, mother of bullied child.

The meeting was also to show how students can take responsibility for their actions.
