COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - According to a Columbus Police Department case report, a man says he was the victim of an armed robbery late Wednesday night.

The man told police that as he walked north near the intersection of Neil Drive and River Road, six men were walking south on River Road when they crossed the street asking him to "empty them pockets."

The victim said one of the six men pointed a pistol at him while two of the others punched on the side of the head and took his iPhone 6S Plus, retailed at $600.

He said that the victims then ran back across the street, over railroad tracks and into an unknown direction on Meritas Drive. The victim refused EMS treatment and could not give any other witness or suspect information other than they were six black males wearing similar clothing.

A police officer who was called to investigate said that a man matching the description of one of the six suspects was seen at a Shell gas station on River Road and Manchester Expressway.

The report says that the suspect pulled a pistol from his pocket and ran away behind the gas station.

If you know anything about this crime, you are asked to call CPD at (706)-653-3400.
