COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Tuesday is the American Diabetes Association's Alert Day. Unfortunately, a type 2 diabetes diagnosis often comes 7 to 10 years after the disease's onset.

Doctor Paula Walker-King stopped by the morning show to talk more about the disease.

This is to get people to get their glucose levels checked. Blood sugar levels should be at or around 100.

Diabetes is a disease that is chronic in nature and happens when the body does not produce enough insulin or the body does not respond to the insulin.

Excessive thirst, vision changes, and fatigue are just some of the symptoms of diabetes.
