COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - An armed robbery took place at Brito's Market located on South Lumpkin Road in Columbus.

The owner of Brito's, Alejandro Britos says that a lone black male in his 20's about 6 feet tall with black pants entered the store with a gun and asked the clerk for money.

The female clerk ran to the back of the store. The suspect hopped over the counter and then fired one shot towards the clerk as she was running to the back of the store.

The bullet bounced off the floor through two cases of shelves and hit the butcher in the foot. He was not injured. The suspect made away with about $100 in cash.

Mr. Britos has security cameras but he is not sure if they picked up the suspect, the security company is coming out to review the footage.

This is a developing story, check back for more updates.
